Louis Vuitton: Three Days with Fashion Royalty
Working as “bag stylist” on the Louis Vuitton FW06 advertising campaign shot by legendary photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott was one of those rare projects that remind you why you fell in love with image-making in the first place.
Katie Grand styled the campaign, and she was an absolute pleasure to collaborate with. Her vision was clear, and her ability to orchestrate a shoot of this magnitude while keeping everyone creatively engaged was masterful. Working alongside Marc Jacobs, Katie Grand, Mert & Marcus meant being part of a world-class creative team committed to creating desire.
The three-day shoot brought together the world's most iconic supermodels: Daria Werbowy, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Raquel Zimmermann, Du Juan, and Stella Tennant. Each brought their own singular energy and wealth of experience to set.
In luxury advertising, particularly with a heritage house like Louis Vuitton, bag styling was its own specialized craft. The job included a lot of puppeteering, not just stuffing a bag and placing in someone's hand. Every grip and positioning communicated something about the bag's construction and desirability.
Mert and Marcus are known for creating images that are both hyperreal and fantastical. Working with them meant understanding that the final image might be transformed through their signature digital artistry, and the foundation needed to be flawless.
